About Katori Shrine

It is the head place of worship of the roughly 400 Katori altars around the nation found fundamentally in the Kant area. The primary celebration of the place of worship is held yearly on April 14, with a three-day Grand Festival held at regular intervals. The establishment of Katori Shrine originates before the recorded period. Per the Hitachi Fudoki, an antiquated record and per sanctum custom, it was set up in 643 BC, the eighteenth year of the rule of Emperor Jimmu.

During this period, the group relocated from Higo Province in Kyushu, overcoming neighborhood emishi clans, and shaping an organization together with the close-by Nakatomi faction, the forebears of the Fujiwara family at what is currently Kashima Jing.
