About Hokoku ji

Hokoku-ji is an antique temple inside the Kencho-ji faculty of the Rinzai sect of Zen Buddhism placed in Kamakura, Japan. Famous for its bamboo lawn, it is also called "Bamboo Temple". A statue of Gautama Buddha, known as Shaka Nyorai in Japanese, in a sacred corridor is the temple's most important image. The authentic of a statue of Sho Kan'non is on display on the Kamakura Museum of National Treasures.
