Villa Romana di Patti

The Roman villa of Patti, is an extra-urban residence of the Roman era, located in Patti, in the province of Messina.During the seventies two important discoveries have shed new light on the reality of the late Roman latifundia, allowing the large villa of the Casale di Piazza Armerina to be placed in a clearer historical perspective.
The Roman villa of Patti was discovered in 1973, during the construction of a stretch of motorway, when two pylons destroyed part of the north side of the villa 6 km away from Tindari. Although excavation operations are still ongoing and many rooms are waiting to be excavated up to the floor level, the overall layout of the villa is quite clear.
