About Siena Cathedral

Siena Cathedral Italian: Duomo di Siena is a medieval church in Siena, Italy, committed from its most punctual days as a Roman Catholic Marian church, and now devoted to the Assumption of Mary. Already the episcopal seat of the Diocese of Siena, from the fifteenth century the Archdiocese of Siena, it is currently that of the Archdiocese of Siena-Colle di Val d'Elsa-Montalcino. The church building itself was initially outlined and finished somewhere in the range of 1215 and 1263 on the site of a prior structure. It has the type of a Latin cross with a marginally anticipating transept, an arch, and a chime tower. The arch ascents from a hexagonal base with supporting segments.

The light on the vault was included by Gian Lorenzo Bernini. The nave is isolated from the two paths by crescent curves. The outside and inside are built of white and greenish-dark marble in exchanging stripes, with the expansion of red marble on the facade. Highly contrasting are the emblematic shades of Siena, etiologically connected to highly contrasting ponies of the incredible city's organizers, Senius and Aschius. The beginnings of the principal structure are dark and covered in legend. There was a ninth century church with priest's castle at the present area. In December 1058 a synod was held in this congregation bringing about the race of pope Nicholas II and the statement of the antipope Benedict X.
