About Lonato
Lonato del Garda also Lonato is a town and comune inside the province of Brescia, in Lombardy, northern Italy. Lonato is placed approximately midway between Milan and Venice, on the southwest shore of Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy. Neighbouring communes are Castiglione delle Stiviere, Desenzano del Garda, Calcinato, Bedizzole, Calvagese della Riviera, Padenghe sul Garda, Pozzolengo, Montichiari, Solferino.
The town is a holiday destination because of its scenic lakeside vicinity approximately 5 kilometres and its numerous ancient and creative monuments and museums, prehistoric sites, Roman ruins, Medieval fortress, Baroque church buildings and modern-day museums. The metropolis lies at the landscape of Morenic Hill, at the southwest facet of Lake Garda. Here the primary human settlements appeared in the Bronze Age on pile dwellings, as testified by way of archaeological findings in the areas of Polada and Lavagnone. The call Lonato is assumed from a few students to derive from the Celtic term “Lona” meaning little lake.
