About La Basilica Cattedrale della Vergine Assunta

The Basilica Cathedral of the Virgin Assumed, popularly known as Duomo, is the main place of Catholic worship in the city of Lodi, Lombardy, Diocese of same name.

It is one of the largest churches in Lombardy and the oldest monument of praise.

The first stone of the building, indeed, was symbolically placed in 3 August 1158, same day as the foundation of the city. Lodi's iconic sight is its imposing cathedral.

Work began in 1160 and its towering brick facade betrays Romanesque, Gothic and Renaissance elements the rose window being the clearest sign of the latter.
