About Church of Saint George
The assembly is worked over a devastated fifteenth century structure, and has the north end of the nave and left-hand walkway of the earlier house of prayer, from which there survive two apses - which, regardless of the conventional oversee, stand up to north rather than east.
The Ottoman authorities stipulated, that bit of the plot be made available for a mosque. Along these lines, the present Church of St. George merges only the upper east corner of the Byzantine basilica. The assemblage contains the sarcophagus of St George.
