About Al-Askari Shrine

Al ‘Askari Shrine, the ‘Askariyya Shrine or the Al-Askari Mosque is a Shi'ite Muslim mosque and mausoleum within the Iraqi metropolis of Samarra 100 twenty 5 km from Baghdad. It is one of the maximum crucial Shia shrines within the world, constructed in 944. Adjacent to the mosque is another domed commemorative constructing, the Serdab, built over the cistern wherein the Twelfth Imam, Mu?ammad al-Mahdi, first entered the Minor Occultation or "hidden from the view"—whence the alternative call of the Mahdi, the Hidden Imam.
