An old tourist attraction in Nandi Hills is Tipu's drop. Located on a hilltop atop a cliff at a height of 600m above the ground level, it is a scenic beauty and a must visit for the nature lovers. One can get a beautiful view of the hill ranges from the Tipu's drop.
There is a shrine located on the side of the hilltop, Yoganandeeshwar temple which was built by the Chola kings. The place is as old as the time when the drop was used to push the prisoners off the cliff as a punishment for their crimes. It is said that the sound of rustling leaves are the screams of the inmates who were pushed down the cliff.
