About Srikurmanatha Temple
Srikurmam is a famous temple arranged at a separation of around twelve miles toward the southeast of Srikakulam town. The town Srikurmam gets its name from the sanctuary, which is committed to Lord Vishnu in the Avathara of Srikurmam viz., the Avathara of a tortoise, and subsequently the god is called 'Srikurmanatha. The sanctuary is of extremely incredible sacredness, being the main imperative sanctuary to Lord Vishnu in the Kurmavathara in the entire of India. The prominent legend is that the Lord is said to have first showed up here to favor ruler Swetamahipathi. It is said that the bones of the expired if tossed into the Swetapushkarani tank get changed over into tortoises or Kurmas, and consequently unclean people are taboo to touch the water from the tank.
