About Shakti Peeth
The Shakti Peeth of Deoband is arranged on the Saharanpur-Muzaffarnagar Highway, in the town of Deoband. The territory of Deoband is nearly connected with Goddess Durga, as it is said that Goddess Durga used to dwell in the backwoods that existed here in before times. Because of this reason, these woodlands were known as 'Devi Van', which later came to be known as Deoband. Toward the east of this town, lies an old lake called Devi Kund. As per legend, Devi Durga executed the Maha Asur Durg, at this kund itself. The sanctuary of Bala Sundari additionally exists close to this kund, which was worked in the memory of this occurrence. Insides of this sanctuary include an exposed statue of Goddess Durga, alongside a few old engravings engraved on its entryways and dividers. The celebration of Chaitra Shukla Chaturdasi is commended at this sanctuary, durig which fans take a dunk in the blessed water of Devi Kund.
