About Shahpeer ki Dargah

The tomb of Shahpeer is the one of the popular monuments in Meerut that is considered to be the oldest tombs in North India. This become built through Noor Jahan, who was the wife of Jehangir, in solemn reminiscence and recognize of the nearby Muslim, Hazrat Shahpeer. The dargah was constructed in 1620 which is much in advance than even the Taj Mahal. It is learnt that Shahpeer was the trainer of Mughal Emperor Jehangir, and turned into the doctor and advisor to Queen Noor Jahan. This monument is made from red sandstone and is intricately carved with designs and motifs.
