About Powai Lake

Powai Lake is an synthetic lake, situated in Mumbai, inside the Powai valley, wherein a Powai village with a cluster of huts existed. The town suburb known as Powai shares its name with the lake. Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, one of the superior institutions of science and technology in India, is positioned to the east of the lake. Another well-known organization, the National Institute of Industrial Engineering, is also placed close to the lake.

Housing complexes and luxurious resorts are developed everywhere in the lake outer edge. Population across the lake has as a consequence extensively increased over the years. When it was built, the lake had a place of about 2.1 rectangular kilometres and the intensity varied from approximately three metres to 12 metres at its deepest. The Powai Lake has gone through many stages of water excellent degradation. The lake water which used to deliver consuming water for Mumbai has been d undeserving to drink. The lake nevertheless remains a tourist appeal.
