Maheswari Kund

A beautiful place with a very fascinating legend attached to it, Maheshwari Kund is just a few kilometers walk from Munsiyari. Maheshwari Kund, as the name suggests, the lake is surrounded with such jaw-drop surroundings of magnificent and awe inspiring mountain peaks, with such different ieties of Rhododendrons with flowers in exuberant colors. The area itself boasts one of the greatest diversity of Rhododendrons across the world.

The place retells many mythological stories where according to the legends the kund was cursed by a Yakshi who use to live in a small lake there, the place faced drought for several years. After the villagers apologized to the Yakshi for not letting him marry the sarpanch daughter and emptying the lake in form of revenge, the ritual is practiced even today. The kund is now is a pond offering nature in its absolutely virgin form where one can have that incredible view of Panchachuli Peak.
