This beautiful garden nestles near Safdarjung’s tomb which is present in south Delhi.Basically, Safdarjung's Tomb is a manmade sandstone and marble mausoleum which was constructed in the year 1754 in the late Mughal Empire style for the statesman Safdarjung. This garden houses the great tombs of rulers like Mohammed Shah. It is said that you will also find the tomb of Sikandar Lodhi.
The construction is said to be done in the late 15th century. This garden also has Shisha Gumbad and Bara Gumbad within its reach. As you can guess the architectural style resembles the Sayyed and the Lodhis dynasties. This place currently is taken care by Archeological Survey of India.
Lady Willingdon Park was the official name of this park before independence. But due to many reasons after independence, the name was renamed to Lodhi Garden. The view wherein lush green plants get contrasted with the color of the building- is a sight to behold. This is a must visit place in Delhi.
