The development of this dam was finished in 1963 and is among the boss structural designing undertakings worked after the freedom of India. The catchment region of the Koyna Dam obstructs Koyna River and makes the Shivsagar Lake, which is about 50 km long. The spillway of the dam is situated at the middle and it has 6 outspread doors.
