Kherbawani Asthapan Temple is located adjacent to the mosque of Hazrat Dawood Khaki in Mohala Khaki Shaibaban area of Anantnag. The temple is devoted to the Kherbawani spring, which originates from the complex itself. Keeping in mind the spring's religious attachment with the area, it has been aptly preserved in a single- store stone temple.
It is believed that Kashmir’s Maharaja Pratap Singh took a halt in the temple several times offering milk to the Lord. He had also offered some arable lands to the deity. Apart from being an important place of worship. The sight of the changing water color of the spring also attracts a lot of tourists to this place.
It’s a small temple in a large ground of chinar tall trees, there is a very small pond and in the midst is the Shiva and Bhavani idol. There is also a beautiful lake called Manasbal very nearby of about ten kilometers, like a Mini Dal Lake with such boating facility. The temple has serene atmosphere and is worth paying a visit away from such crowd.
