About Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip garden

Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip garden, previously Model Floriculture Center, is a tulip garden in Srinagar, India. It is the largest tulip lawn in Asia unfold over an area of about 30 hectares. It is situated on the foothills of Zabarwan Range with an overview of Dal Lake. The lawn changed into opened in 2007 with the purpose to boost floriculture and tourism in Kashmir Valley. The garden is constructed on a sloping ground in a terraced style along with seven terraces.
Apart from tulips, many other species of plant life - hyacinths, daffodils and ranunculus have been added as well. Tulip competition is an annual birthday celebration that ambitions to exhibit the variety of plants in the lawn as a part of tourism efforts through the Government of Jammu and Kashmir. It is prepared for the duration of the onset of spring season in Kashmir valley. In 2017, the Tulip Festival is being organized for 15 days from 1 to 15 April.
