About Guru Ram Rai Gurudwara

At the heart of Dehradun city, Guru Ram Rai Gurudwara is the maximum famous non secular centre in Dehradun. Established in 17th century, Guru Ram Rai Gurudwara is the oldest and holiest pilgrimage for Sikh network in Dehradun. The Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb became surprisingly impressed via the excellent powers of charismatic Guru Ram Rai Ji. Hence he asked the modern-day Raja of Garhwal, Fateh Shah to extend all viable help to Shri Guru Ram Ji. Initially a Gurudwara was built in Dhamawala. The Construction of the present building of Darbar Sahib become completed in 1707.

There are photographs of gods, goddesses, saints, sages and spiritual stories on the walls. There are pictures of vegetation and leaves, animals and birds, bushes, similar faces with pointed noses and large eyes on the arches which are the image of the colour scheme of Kangra-Guler and Mughal art. High minarets and spherical pinnacles are the models of the Muslim architecture. The big Talab inside the front measuring 230 x 80 toes which had dried up for need of water through the years and in which people were dumping garbage, has now been renovated and revived.
