The Dakshina Mookambika Temple is a famous Saraswati temple in the town of North Paravur in the Ernakulam district of Kerala. The managing divinity in this sanctuary is Saraswati and sub-gods are Ganapathy, Subrahmanyan, Mahavishnu, Yakshi, Hanuman and Veerabhadran. A holy place gave to Yakshi is at the southwest corner. The sanctum sanctorum is amidst a lotus pool. As indicated by legends, Thampuran ruler of Paravur was an awesome aficionado of Goddess Mookambika.
He used to visit the Kollur sanctuary in Mangalore consistently to pay praise to the goddess. When he wound up old, his wellbeing declined and he could never again embrace the long trip to Kollur. The goddess appeared to the tragic lover in a fantasy and requested him to construct her venerated image close to his royal residence with the goal that he can have day by day darshan of her.
Thampuran took after her guidelines, fabricated a sanctuary at Paravur and introduced the Goddess. The acclaimed Navratri celebration is praised here with awesome intensity. A large number of individuals take an interest in the Naatri music celebration. On Durgashtami, books are organized before the picture of Goddess Saraswathy and on Vijayadashami morning, Ezhuthinirithu or function happens at an exceptional mandapam which goes from 4 am to 11 am.
