About Bonyhad
Bonyhad is a town in Tolna County in Southwestern Hungary. The town's ethnic composition consists of Hungarians, Germans, Szekely and Romani. In the years main to World War II, Bonyhad had a large Jewish population. In 1941, Jews constituted about 14% of the full populace. The network become divided between Orthodox and Neolog Judaism traditions. At the time Rabbi Aaron Pressburger and Rabbi Lajos Schwartz have been the town's Orthodox and Neologue rabbis. They accompanied their network to Auschwitz where they too have been murdered.
After the profession of Hungary by means of the German military in March 1944, Jews were isolated and their belongings was confiscated by way of the Hungarian government. In May 1944, the Jewish population became estimated at round 1,three hundred. Between May 12–15, 1944 the Jewish communities of Bonyhad, Bataszek, Szekszard and surrounding villages were moved to the 2 ghettos in Bonyhad. Some Jews have been critically tortured to find out in which they will have placed valuables.
