Its originator and manufacturer was the respectable group of von Bartensleben. After their line ceased to exist in 1742 the Wolfsburg was acquired by the tallies of Schulenburg. The name Wolfsburg does not demonstrate that the district of the Vorsfelder Werder in which the manor is found had an extensive number of wolves, despite the fact that there were absolutely deceivers wet glades of the Dromling. The wolf that gave its name to the chateau is a heraldic monster on the escutcheon of the von Bartensleben family who assembled the structure.
