About New Town Hall

By the mid-nineteenth century, Munich was developing by a wide margin.

The city board discovered that more space was expected to house government workplaces so they left on plans for another town lobby.

A site at the Marienplatz was picked and two dozen structures were obliterated keeping in mind the end goal to clear a path for the fabulous Neues Rathaus, which was planned by 24-year-old Georg Hauberrisser.

By chance, the Altes Rathaus Old Town Hall was not pulverized but rather still stands close to the Neues Rathaus.

Development on the new town corridor started in 1867 with the eastern segment of the building, designed from block.

It was finished in 1874.
