Lauda Konigshofen

Lauda Konigshofen is placed inside the Main Tauber Kreis, the northernmost district of Baden Wuerttemberg among the district metropolis Tauberbischofsheim and the district town of Bad Mergentheim in today referred to as Tauber Franconia region. On 1 January 1975, the metropolis of Lauda united with the metropolis of Konigshofen and the network Unterbalbach as part of the territorial reform in Baden Wurttemberg to the city of Lauda Konigshofen. The municipalities of Marbach and Oberbalbach have been introduced.

As early as 1 January 1974, the communities Buckstein, Gerlachsheim and Heckfeld with the city of Lauda had been merged to form a new metropolis Lauda. The more than 30 to 12 months history of the air force base Lauda Konigshofen considering the fact that October 1963 resulted in March 2004 with the abandonment of the 19.8 hectare Tauberfranken barracks on the outskirts of Lauda. Closing the site of the previous 1,000 soldiers and civilian workers became related to sizeable losses in financial and purchasing power.
