About Badener Hohe

The Badener Hohe is a mountain within the Northern Black Forest within the German kingdom of Baden-Wurttemberg. It lies inside the borough of Baden-Baden and municipality of Forbach. With a height of 1,003 m above sea level, it's miles the best factor inside the borough of Baden-Baden. The mountain rises above the hamlet of Herrenwies close to the Schwarzenbach Reservoir. Its western and southern vicinity is a part of the Black Forest National Park. On the mountaintop, besides a shelter hut, is the 30-metre-high Frederick Tower constructed in 1890 by means of Anton Klein from pink sandstone and inaugurated on 5 October 1891 by means of Grand Duke Frederick I of Baden. The lookout tower is a fairly visible cultural monument.

From here you'll be able to see some distance over the northern Black Forest, inter alia to Herrenwies, the nearby mountains of Mehliskopf and Hornisgrinde. To the north, on a very clean day, the Groer Feldberg, the Taunus hills and the Melibokus in the Odenwald Forest may be visible. To the north-northwest is the Palatinate Forest and, in true climate, even the Donnersberg may be seen. To the west, in France, upward thrust the Vosges. In notable visibility some summits of the Swiss Alps may be visible to the a long way south-southeast. The panoramic view extends to the east to Swabian Jura.
