About Chateau de Compiegne

The Chateau de Compiegne is a French chateau a royal residence built for Louis XV and restored with the resource of Napoleon. Compiegne has become considered one of 3 seats of royal government. The others being Versailles and Fontainebleau. It is positioned in Compiegne within the Oise branch and is open to the public. In 1750, distinguished architect Angel Jacques Gabriel proposed a thorough protection of the chateau. Work started out in 1751 and become finished in 1788 by using Gabriel’s pupil Le Drau de La Chatter.

The historic city ramparts dictated the chateau triangular plan the resultant building covers approximately 5 acres It is Neoclassical in style with simplicity and readability governing every it out of doors and interior talents. The give up result is an instance of First French Empire style. Though some strains of the earlier decor survive. The creator Augusta Luchet remarked that Compiegne speaks of Napoleon as Versailles does of Louis XIV. From 1856 on, Napoleon III and Eugenie made it their autumn house and redecorated some rooms inside the Second Empire style.
