About AF Offshore Race, Stockholm & Gotland

 

Watch 300 crusing boats conflict it out as the most prestigious race within the Baltic Sea voyages into the Swedish capital. Formally referred to as Gotland Runt Round Gotland, the AF Offshore Race is an attention grabbing occasion, with a fleet of glossy racing vessels moored across the small Stockholm island of Skeppsholmen previous to the begin of the event.

 

The race itself has its roots in a 1920s yachting event, while competition moored for a spot of lunch before crusing home. By the 1930s it had advanced into a race that left Stockholm and looped around the Baltic island of Gotland before returning lower back to the capital. Apparently, the kings of both Sweden and Norway nonetheless take part in the race often. Spectators can view the start of the race from its inner Stockholm starting point at Kastellholmen, from where the boats sail across the island of Gotland before returning to the capital.
