About Augustenborg
Augustenborg is a metropolis on Als Island in Sonderborg Municipality, Region of Southern Denmark in Denmark. The metropolis lies at the top of Als Fjord. To the east is the Little Belt. Ferry provider connects Augustenborg to the island of Funen from the close by metropolis of Fynshav. The metropolis grew up round Augustenborg Palace which turned into mounted by way of Ernest Günther, a member of the ducal house of Schleswig-Holstein and a cadet of the royal house of Denmark, inside the years after 1651.
The palace, and the town consequently, received the name in honor of Ernest's spouse Auguste, herself also from a department of dukes of Schleswig-Holstein. The palace have become the chief seat of their line which used the name Augustenborg as its department call. Later, a Danish king made the top of that line particularly Duke of Augustenborg. They grew in relative prominence in past due 18th century, and inside the 19th century Schleswig-Holstein Question, being the symbols of seasoned-German nationalistic motion in Schleswig-Holstein.
