This morning sightseeing of Guwahati. Visit the famous Kamakhya Temple, State Museum (Monday closed), Balaji temple & Srimanta Shankerdev Kalashetra, a multi art complex portraying the rich cultural diversity and life of Assam as well as the North East region. This art complex has been named after the greatest Vaishnava saint and integrator of the Assamese society Srimanta Shankerdeva. Evening boat cruise on the river Brahmaputra (weather permitting). Overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast, drive to the ancient town of Tezpur (4 hours). Tezpur is an old very historic town of Assam which was known as Sonitpur. Historical ruins of 8th-9th century dot the surrounding areas of the town. The ruins of Bamuni Hills among them are the most famous. They bear resemblance to the Gupta period art. On arrival, check-in at the hotel. Afternoon sightseeing of Tezpur town visiting the Cole Park, Mahabairabh temple and Agnigarh. Overnight at the hotel.
After breakfast proceed to Kaziranga National Park (2 hours) a world heritage site and famous for the one horned Rhino. Visit the periphery of the park to see the wildlife. Evening at leisure. Overnight at the lodge.
This morning after breakfast visit Gibbon Wild Life Sanctuary (1 hr). The Sanctuary contains India's only gibbons – the hoolock gibbons, and Northeastern India's only nocturnal primate – the Bengal slow loris. Thereafter proceed to Dibrugarh (240 km/ 6 hours) a historic old important tea town of Assam. On the way visit Sivasagar, the ancient capital town of the Ahom kingdom, who ruled Assam at a stretch of 600 years before the reign of British. The ancient temples and monuments like Ranghar, Talatalghar, and Siva Dol can be seen. Thereafter, proceed to Dibrugarh. On arrival, check-in at the hotel. Overnight at the hotel.
Day 06: Dibrugarh – Digboi – Margherita – Dibrugarh
After an early breakfast, drive to Digboi (2 hours), the birthplace of oil industry in India. Visit the colonial town, the WW II cemetery and the oil museum here (Monday closed). Thereafter proceed to Margherita and visit the coal museum (Tuesday closed). Lunch at a traditional restaurant. Thereafter drive back to Dibrugarh. Farewell dinner. Overnight at the hotel.
Today after breakfast visit a tea garden for which Assam is world famous. Know about the process of manufacturing of tea by visiting a tea factory. Thereafter transfer to the airport for your onward journey.
