About Pont Rouge
Pont-Rouge is a city along the Jacques-Cartier River in southern Quebec, Canada. In the Canada 2011 Census the populace was 8,723 inhabitants. The first endeavors to colonize the territory came around 1769. On April 15, 1867, the ecclesiastical overseer of Quebec, Charles-Francois Baillargeon, established the ward of Sainte-Jeanne-de-Neuville from parts of Cap-Sante, Saint-Basile, and Neuville. After the division of the ward in two out of 1911 the town of Pont-Rouge and the area of Sainte-Jeanne-de-Pont-Rouge, the new City of Pont-Rouge was set up when these two regions converged on January 3, 1996.
Transportation had significant effect on the advancement of the area, predominantly the two extensions and the development of the Canadian Pacific Railway connect in 1874. The Royal Bridge was recreated a few times in light of the shortcoming of the focal point of the extension. This extension filled its need for the transportation of substantial loads and mail among Quebec and Montreal. The extension was a toll connect, and the cash served the development of a second scaffold le pont Rouge, which was free. It joined the western part toward the eastern piece of Dupont Street, named to pay tribute to Father Charles-Francois Dupont, who was minister there from 1917 to 1933. A more up to date connect has now supplanted this extension starting at 2009.
