About Kapuskasing
Kapuskasing is a town on the Kapuskasing River in the Cochrane District of Northern Ontario, Canada, approximately 92 kilometres east of Hearst. The town was known as MacPherson until 1917, when the name was changed so as not to struggle with another railroad stop in Manitoba. The town of Kapuskasing gets its name from the Kapuskasing River, which was so named some time before the presence of the town. Kapuskasing is an expression of Cree cause, and the importance is obscure. You can come here and explore this place.
The principal detailed review of the area in which Kapuskasing lies was completed in 1875 by Dr. Robert Bell of the Geological Survey of Canada. He alluded to the Kapuskasing River as the "Kai-shrubbery ka-sing". As indicated by Bell's data, the Kapuskasing River got its name from the lake at its head. In 1900, the Bureau of Colonization of the Ontario Department of Agriculture sent gatherings to study the north of the Canadian Pacific Railway between the Quebec fringe and Lake Nipigon. Their principle intrigue was to search out and delimit territories for further horticultural settlements that would give Ontario another cultivating boondocks to counterbalance the fascination of the western prairies.
