About Fort Saint Jean

Fort Saint-Jean is a stronghold in the Canadian territory of Quebec situated on the Richelieu River. The stronghold was first worked in 1666 by warriors of the Carignan-Salieres Regiment and was a piece of a progression of fortresses worked along the Richelieu River. Throughout the years, it was devastated and revamped a few times, yet it is, after Quebec City, the military site that has been possessed constant for a very long time in Canada. The stronghold is assigned as a National Historic Site of Canada, and it right now houses the Royal Military College of Saint-Jean. The fortress has been consistently involved since 1748, and is the center from which the city of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec developed around. Fortress Saint-Jean assumed a urgent job amid the 1775 American intrusion of the Province of Quebec.
In 1952, the Royal Military College Saint-Jean was made to permit a more noteworthy number of French-speaking Canadians to end up officers in the Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Navy and Royal Canadian Air Force, along these lines turning into the principal bilingual military school in Canada. At first, just first-and second-year courses were offered and cadets needed to finish the rest of their training at the Royal Military College of Canada in Kingston, Ontario. After some time, the school started offering third-and fourth-year courses and in 1985, it wound up licensed to allow its very own recognition when it got its very own Academic Charter.
