It is situated in Alberta, Canada, only east of the city's downtown and adjoining the Inglewood and East Village neighborhoods. It is open through Calgary's C-Train light rail framework, via auto by means of Memorial Drive, and by bike and trail by means of the Bow River pathway. A huge part of the zoo is situated on St. George's Island in the Bow River.
The zoo is worked by the Calgary Zoological Society, an autonomous not-revenue driven association that is Alberta's most established enrolled philanthropy. The AZA, WAZA, and CAZA certify zoo was among the first in Canada to be licensed by every one of the three affiliations.
