This popular eighteenth century church, found a couple of kilometers north of Comércio on the Itapagipe Peninsula, is the wellspring of the fitas hued strips you see wherever in Salvador, a keepsake of the congregation and an image of Bahia itself.
Bonfim's distinction gets from its energy to impact inexplicable cures, making it a mainstream shrine.In the Sala dos Milagres Room of Miracles on the correct side of the congregation, fans leave photographs, letters and ex votos – wax imitations of body parts speaking to those that were cured or require curing.
