About Hyde Park

In the midst of all the clamor of the focal business area, Hyde Park is an asylum of sprawling gardens, shady outing spots, blossoms, wellsprings, and fig trees. Like a smaller than normal Central Park, this appreciated fix of green, named after Hyde Park in London, offers prime people-viewing - particularly at lunch when city laborers come here to commence their shoes.

At the north end of the Park in Queens Square, are three fine Georgian structures and perfectly works of art of the convict draftsman Sir Francis Greenway: Hyde Park Barracks, St. James' Church, and the Supreme Court.

This park bronze Archibald Fountain in 1932 which remembers Australia's partnership with France amid WWI, while the Art Deco Anzac War Memorial 1934, in the southern portion of the recreation center, respects its casualties.

Worked by convict work in 1817-19, Hyde Park Barracks was reestablished to its unique condition in 1975-84 and now houses an exhibition hall on the historical backdrop of Sydney depicting the lives of the primary automatic "pilgrims." On the east side of Hyde Park is the Australian Museum, with the biggest characteristic history gathering in the nation.
