It also has a coastline formed by Mediterranean Sea. It bridges the gap between two continents, thus can also be called transcontinental.
As a tourist, you get to experience a lot in a minimum area. The geography in Israel changes pretty quickly. You will be driving in arid desert area and moments later, you will be passing through the cool coastline. The south of the country is covered by Negev desert which is one of the driest in the world and the north is marked with high mountain ranges of Galilee Carmel and Golan. So tourists who are looking for some varied adventure, are in for some treat.
Jerusalem is one of the most important cities of Israel, famous for its sacredness. It is believed to be the resting place of Lord Jesus Christ who was crucified here at the spot where Church of the Holy Sepulchre stands. This church is one of the most important destinations for pilgrims as well as tourists. It also is home to Temple Mount which is considered sacred in Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Jerusalem is also the capital and the largest city of Israel.
Other important cities of Israel are Tel Aviv, Haifa, Ashdod and Rishon LeZion.
