Covering an area of nearly 225 hectares, Karori wildlife Sanctuary is the most visited wildlife sanctuary in New Zealand. The park has been applauded by many wildlife experts for its planning and is thought to be a perfect example of an ecological island. The park has a pest exclusion fence which is designed to keep out unwanted species like mice, possum etc. The wildlife sanctuary is a wonderful place to go for birdwatching.
