Baconao Park: Santiago de Cuba

Baconao Park is not just a wildlife sanctuary with different varieties of animals walking the land, rare bird species ruling the skies; it is also a museum and recreation center. There is a great rock in the center which stands 1,234 m above sea level. You can get to the top of the rock by climbing the 459 steps. From top of the rock one gets splendid views of the surroundings. On a clear night, one can see as far as Jamaica. Other attractions of the park include a prehistoric valley which has scores of life-size models of dinosaurs and many other pre-historic creatures; Museum of History of Terrestrial Transport which has over 2500 small car replicas; and Baconao Lagoon. It also has many coffee plantations and a botanical garden.
