About Priest Point Park

The land whereupon Priest Point Park sits has been utilized for ages by the Indigenous people groups of our area. Cleric Point Park is named for a little gathering of catholic preachers, the Oblat Fathers, who went to the zone in 1848. They cleared the land, planted a substantial garden, assembled a sanctuary, and set up the St. Joseph d'Olympia mission. The Squaxin, Nisqually, Puyallup, and Snoqualmie clans utilized the mission as an exchanging focus amid this time. The mission shut in 1860 and the property lay sit out of gear for a long time. A council drove by Elias Payn, Charle Eaton, and Theodore Brown was instrumental in securing the land.
