About Old Campus

The Old Campus is the most established zone of the Yale University grounds in New Haven, Connecticut. It is the primary home of Yale College green beans and furthermore contains workplaces for the scholarly divisions of Classics, English, Comparative Literature, and Philosophy. Fourteen structures—including eight residences and two houses of prayer—encompass a 4-section of land 1.6 ha patio with a primary passage from the New Haven Green known as Phelps Gate.

Yale's first working in New Haven, the College House, was raised in 1718 on the Old Campus' southeast corner, satisfying the city authors' desire to have a school close New Haven's Congregational church. The Old Campus included the vast majority of Yale College's grounds between its entry in New Haven in 1718 and its twentieth century extension.
