Mississippi Petrified Forest is situated in Mississippi in the United States. It is exclusive and open for open visits.The Forest is accepted to have been framed 36 million years prior when fir and maple logs washed down an old waterway channel to the momentum site where they later progressed toward becoming petrified. It is one of just two petrified woods in the eastern United States, the other being Gilboa Fossil Forest in New York.
It was announced a National Natural Landmark in October 1965. The site includes a historical center with cases of petrified wood found in each state and from different nations. The examples incorporate an assortment of plant materials, including leaves, natural products, cones and bark. Different fossils and fossil throws are in plain view, including dinosaur impressions, whale bones and turtle shells.
