About Mission Basilica San Diego de Alcala

This was California's first mission. In 1769, the Spanish Franciscan Father from Majorca, Junipero Serra, established the mission stations, the first was worked in San Diego. A couple of years after it was established, be that as it may, it was moved six miles inland in light of the fact that debate had emerged between the Spanish troops and the Indians.

In 1775, the Indians set fire to the new mission; the Fathers looked for asylum with the armed force and it was 1777 preceding they constructed another mission station with the assistance of the Indians.Notwithstanding, it rapidly wound up broken down after secularization. Today, guests can see the old church with a ringer tower, proclaimed a basilica in the 1970s; an excellent garden; and a little gallery. It is a National Historic Landmark.
