About Levitt Shell
The Levitt Shell is an outdoors amphitheater some time ago known as Overton Park Shell and Shell Theater. Worked in 1936 by the Works Progress Administration and the City of Memphis, it is one of just a couple of band shells worked by the WPA that is still being used. Demonstrated after comparable band shells in New York, Chicago, and St. Louis, it was utilized for musicals, light musical dramas, and symphony exhibitions amid the 1940s. Elvis Presley performed here in 1954 and this is viewed as the primary shake and move appear ever. The shell was renamed after a noteworthy remodel by the Levitt Foundation in 2007.
