Obsidian Dome is a mile-long 300-foot high magma vault that is a piece of the Mono– Inyo Craters volcanic chain situated in the Inyo National Forest. The Dome is basically a major heap of sparkly dark volcanic glass that was shaped by a blast a Phreatic Blast when magma achieved the water table, turned the water to steam, cooled and after that swung to shake.
