Lydekker Park is a 3-section of land park in Harpenden, Hertfordshire. The land was once in the past piece of the garden of Harpenden Lodge, worked in 1803, home for a long time to the Lydekkers, one of the town's most seasoned families. In 1937 Hilda Lydekker, last surviving individual from the Lydekker family, went into a concurrence with the previous Harpenden Urban District Council that the 11 sections of land connected to Harpenden hotel ought to wind up an open space for the general population of Harpenden.
Her expectation was that the open space ought to be a remembrance to her two siblings and her life partner, every one of whom kicked the bucket in World War I. Be that as it may, following the passing of Miss Lydekker in 1987, in no time before her 101st birthday, her relatives could upset the terms of her will, and the land was along these lines sold for advancement. Harpenden Town Council tried strenuous endeavors to have all, or possibly part of, the zone held as open space. The Town Council had some proportion of control as the designers were relying on the Town Council to acquire arranging authorization to build up the site.
