About Crowthorne
Crowthorne is a town and civil parish in the Bracknell Forest locale of south-eastern Berkshire. It had a populace of 6,711 at the 2001 census, increasing to 6,902 at the 2011 Census. Crowthorne is best known for Wellington College, an extensive co-instructive boarding and day free school, which opened in 1859 and for Broadmoor Hospital, one of three greatest security mental healing facilities in England, which lies on the eastern fringe of the town.
The town was just a little villa until the point when Wellington College was opened in 1859 and Broadmoor Hospital in 1863. Crowthorne railroad station, initially known as Wellington College for Crowthorne station, was opened in 1860. The town developed rapidly. In the 1960s, the Transport Research Laboratory set up by the UK Government as the Road Research Laboratory opened in Crowthorne, privatized in 1996.
Crowthorne is a piece of the Reading Wokingham Urban Area. The Crowthorne urban region overflow into the neighboring ward of Wokingham Without. The greater part of Crowthorne is in the Bracknell Forest district. North of Crowthorne is Pinewood which has a recreation centre, cafe and smaller than usual railroad.
