About Alexandra Park
Alexandra Park is an open park in Oldham, Greater Manchester, England. It was made in light of the Lancashire Cotton Famine of 1861-1865 as an endeavor to keep neighborhood material laborers employed. The park is situated in the Glodwick territory of Oldham. Oldham was hit hard by the Lancashire Cotton Famine of 1861-1865 when supplies of crude cotton from the United States were cut off. Entirely dependent upon the material handling industry, the economy of Oldham stressed as the cotton starvation made incessant joblessness in the town.
By 1863 an advisory group had been framed and with a credit from focal government, arrive at Swine Clough was acquired from Reverend John Cocker of Shaw and Crompton whom made it a condition that neighborhood jobless cotton specialists were utilized to develop the recreation center which opened on 28 August 1865. John Thomas Cocker, Esq., of New-bank Heyside obtained the bequest of Swine Clough in 1850 from the Ogden Family. This family appreciated this home for a few ages. It was sold to Adam Ogden the senior in 1670 by Edmund Assheton, Esq., of Chadderton, Swine Clough was an old homestead a short separation toward the west of Glodwick. Explore and experience more.
