The congregation is situated in the northern area of Sinop, Turkey, on the shores of the Black Sea. All frescoes of Jesus, Mary and holy people are intensely harmed on account of the human and climate factors. Since 2009 the site has been the scene of archeological unearthings by Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University under the heading of Professor Gulgun Koroglu of the college's craft history department. Turkish archeologists have discovered a bit of a stone with crosses cut on it.

In comments to the press, Koroglu stated: "They have discovered a blessed thing in a chest. It is a bit of a cross, and they think it was a piece of the True Cross. This stone chest is vital to us. It has a history and is the most vital antique they have uncovered so far". Koroglu included, "They have likewise discovered ious human bones amid our removal, they have been working here for a long time and have discovered in excess of 2,000 skeletons. They have learned numerous things amid the uncovering that they didn't already know". Explore and experience this place more.
