About Syria

Travel to Syria gives the backpackers a feeling of inner exaltation to roam hither and thither without any fear of terrorism. It is not at all populated with zealots, terrorists and other bogeymen. In fact, Syrians are considered to be the most friendly and easy-going people in the world. Luckily, the modernization has not affected the bygone days magnetism and still calls you with the same love and affection. The country feels relaxed and contented in itself for being incorporated with highly informative historical sites, mountains, deserts and fertile plains. The ancient cities of Aleppo, Bosra and Damascus have hit the flawless UNESCOs World Heritage register, and country's gentle looks have been outstanding in producing a never-ending infatuation. Syria is a modernized, proud and a very productive nation with an organization that is outward looking and emerging more liberal day by day. The country is officially referred to as the Syrian Arab Republic and lies inside the Middle East region, sharing rims with Iraq to the East, Lebanon and the Mediterranean Sea to the West, Turkey to the north, Jordan to the south, and Israel to the southwest. The capital of Syria is Damascus and its largest yet celebrated city is Aleppo. Modern Syria is identified as a parliamentary republic and attained independence in April 1946. It is indeed a predominant nation of Arab around 90%, along with minorities belonging to various other ethnic groups. Here people usually talk in Arabic but other languages which are also very much in demand are Armenian, Turkish, Kurdish, English and French. Syrians are great followers of Islam as about 80% of the population is Muslim, divided between 74% Sunni Muslim and 16% other Alawites, Muslim, and Druze. However, the Christians share approximately 10% of the Syrian population.
