Shimla Airport To Restart Its Normal Flights After 3 Years Close

1. Govt. Decides to Re-Start Shimla Airport

After deep consideration, the government has decided to re-start Shimla Airport from June 9, 2016. The re-start of this airport will provide regular flights on Chandigarh-Shimla and Dharamsala-Shimla routes. This will definitely ease the life of passengers of these cities who were facing various travel related issues after the airport was closed for three and a half years. The officials of government also cleared that IIC Technologies Ltd will provide regular flights for passengers to these cities. As per the official of the government, the IIC Technologies Ltd will also provide flights between Shimla and Kullu that will further add the domestic travel pleasure.  

The official also cleared that after this airport at Shimla was closed, tourism industry in the state faced great blow. Thus, after its shutdown in the year 2012, Shimla experienced reduced number of domestic and international visitors that directly affected the economy of the city. Apart from Shimla airport, the state has other two airports at Kullu and Dharamsala that were serving visitors so far. Thus, the state is expecting to enjoy a large number of tourists after the re-start of Shimla airport. Further, the hospitality industry is also expecting growth in their business.
